Terms of Service
LAST UPDATED: MARCH 2026
These Terms of Service govern your use of theocdclinic.ca and any services provided by La Rose Counselling Services, operating as The OCD Clinic. Please read them carefully. Different terms apply depending on which service you are using. The relevant section for your situation is identified in Section 1.
Section 1
Who These Terms Apply To
The OCD Clinic provides three distinct categories of service. Each has different governing terms:
Ontario Psychotherapy Clients
Individuals and couples in Ontario receiving individual or couples psychotherapy for OCD. These services are regulated under the Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA) and the practice standards of the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). See Section 2.
International Coaching Clients
Clients in the United States, United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, or other countries outside Ontario who are receiving OCD skills coaching. Coaching is explicitly not psychotherapy and is not a regulated health service. See Section 3.
OCD Recovery Course Purchasers
Anyone who purchases access to the OCD Recovery Course. This is a digital educational product and a commercial transaction. See Section 4.
Section 2
Psychotherapy Services: Ontario Clients
Regulated Service
Individual and couples psychotherapy at The OCD Clinic is provided by Justin La Rose, RP, M.Psy, a Registered Psychotherapist in good standing with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO, registration #001966). These services are governed by the Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA), the Psychotherapy Act, 2007, and CRPO Standards of Professional Practice. By engaging psychotherapy services, you agree to the terms of the consent form provided at intake, which supplements these Terms.
Confidentiality and Limits
Your clinical information is confidential. Justin La Rose will not disclose information about your care without your written consent, except where disclosure is required or permitted by law. Mandatory exceptions include:
- A reasonable suspicion of child abuse or neglect (duty to report under the Child, Youth and Family Services Act)
- A risk of serious harm to an identifiable third party
- A valid court order or subpoena
- A complaint or investigation by CRPO or another regulatory body
This Is Not a Crisis Service
If you are in crisis, do not use this website to seek help. Call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room. You can also contact the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline (call or text 988 in Canada or the US), or the Toronto Distress Centre at 416-408-4357. Psychotherapy sessions are not a substitute for emergency assessment or crisis intervention.
Session Format and Location
Psychotherapy sessions are available in-person at 2 Bloor Street West, Suite 700, Toronto, ON, or via secure video for clients located anywhere in Ontario. Psychotherapy services are available to Ontario residents only. You are responsible for confirming your residency eligibility. If your situation changes (e.g., you relocate outside Ontario), you must notify us promptly.
Cancellation Policy
We require 24 hours advance notice to cancel or reschedule an appointment. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours notice, or missed appointments without notice, may be charged the full session fee. Repeated late cancellations may affect continued access to scheduled appointments.
Payment
Payment for psychotherapy sessions is due at the time of service. Fees are as published on the Fees page of this website. Payments are processed via Stripe. Receipts are provided and can be submitted for reimbursement to extended health benefit plans that cover Registered Psychotherapy. We do not direct-bill insurance. HST does not apply to psychotherapy services in Ontario.
Section 3
OCD Coaching: International Clients
Coaching Is Not Psychotherapy
OCD coaching is not psychotherapy, not a regulated health service, and does not constitute a therapeutic or clinical relationship. It is a skills-based, educational service using the ERP (Exposure and Response Prevention) model. By engaging OCD coaching, you explicitly acknowledge and agree to this distinction.
Justin La Rose provides coaching to clients outside Ontario in his capacity as an educator and OCD skills coach, not as a registered or regulated mental health professional in your jurisdiction. He is a Registered Psychotherapist in Ontario, Canada only. He is not licensed, registered, or regulated to provide psychotherapy, counselling, or clinical services in the United States, United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, or any other country outside Ontario.
What Coaching Includes and Excludes
Coaching sessions include: OCD psychoeducation, ERP model instruction, exposure hierarchy development, planning and debriefing of exposures, and skills coaching to support self-directed ERP practice.
Coaching explicitly does not include:
- Diagnosis of OCD or any other mental health condition
- Assessment for comorbid conditions
- Crisis intervention or emergency mental health support
- A therapeutic relationship or duty of care as defined by regulated health professions law
- Documentation suitable for insurance reimbursement, disability claims, or clinical referral
Your Responsibility for Local Care
You are responsible for seeking assessment and treatment from a licensed mental health professional in your own jurisdiction if your symptoms warrant it. Coaching is not a substitute for medical assessment, diagnosis, or clinical care. If you have not been assessed by a clinician in your country and your symptoms are significantly impairing your functioning, you should seek a local assessment before or alongside coaching.
Crisis Support: This Is Not a Crisis Service
OCD coaching is not crisis support. If you are experiencing a mental health emergency, contact local emergency services or a crisis line immediately:
United States: 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, call or text 988
United Kingdom: Samaritans: 116 123 | OCD-UK Helpline: 0333 212 7890
Ireland: Samaritans: 116 123 | Pieta House: 116 123
Australia: Beyond Blue: 1300 22 4636 | Lifeline: 13 11 14
All countries: Call your local emergency number (911, 999, 000, 112)
Cancellation Policy
A minimum of 24 hours advance notice is required to cancel or reschedule a coaching session. Late cancellations and no-shows may be charged the full session fee. Booking a session constitutes agreement to this cancellation policy.
Payment
Coaching sessions are billed at $400 CAD per session, payable via credit card through Stripe at the time of service. All transactions are billed in Canadian dollars. Approximate equivalents in other currencies are published on the OCD Coaching page but your bank's exchange rate at the time of transaction governs the actual amount charged in your local currency. Coaching fees are not reimbursable through health insurance as coaching is not a clinical service.
Section 4

Section 5
General Terms
Not Emergency or Crisis Services
None of the services offered by The OCD Clinic (psychotherapy, coaching, or the OCD Recovery Course) are emergency, crisis, or urgent care services. If you are experiencing a psychiatric emergency, call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room. In Canada, you may also call or text 988.
Not a Substitute for In-Person Assessment
If your symptoms are severe, if you are experiencing significant functional impairment, or if you have not been previously assessed by a clinician, online services may not be sufficient as a sole intervention. We reserve the right to recommend in-person assessment with a local provider and to decline or discontinue services where we determine that a higher level of care is indicated.
Website Use
The information provided on theocdclinic.ca, including articles, resources, FAQs, and educational content, is for informational and educational purposes only. It does not constitute professional clinical advice and does not establish a therapeutic or professional relationship. You should not rely on website content as a substitute for professional assessment or treatment.
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, La Rose Counselling Services and Justin La Rose shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from your use of this website, the course, or coaching services. Our total liability for any claim arising from these Terms or our services shall not exceed the amount paid by you for the specific service giving rise to the claim. Nothing in this section limits liability that cannot be excluded by law, including liability for professional negligence in the provision of regulated psychotherapy services.
Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms of Service are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein. Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of our services shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Ontario, Canada, except where mandatory consumer protection law in your own jurisdiction applies.

We reserve the right to update these Terms of Service at any time. The "Last Updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of our services following an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. For active clients, material changes will be communicated directly.
