Justin La Rose

Registered Psychotherapist (RP), M.Psy

Clinical Director, The OCD Clinic

I'm Justin La Rose, a Registered Psychotherapist and the Clinical Director of The OCD Clinic. I treat one thing: OCD. That focus is deliberate. OCD is treatable, it is widely misunderstood, and it deserves someone who works with it every day.

Over more than 25 years in mental health and 15,000 hours of therapy, I have worked with hundreds of people with OCD. In all that time I have never met someone with OCD who was the person their OCD told them they were. OCD attacks exactly what you care about most. It is, in a real sense, a phobia of your own thoughts.

My work centres on Exposure and Response Prevention, the treatment with the strongest evidence base for OCD. I explain the rationale for everything we do, I go at a pace you can handle, and I treat you like a person rather than a case. The goal is not to help you win the argument with your thoughts. It is to help you stop needing to have it.

I see clients in person in Toronto and virtually across Ontario, and I supervise the clinicians who work with me so that everyone under The OCD Clinic practises the same way. If you are not sure whether what you are dealing with is OCD, that is a good enough reason to reach out.
